Collated by Dr Ananda Shankar Jayant
Located adjacent to the Hyderabad International Convention Centre participants will get an opportunity to see some of 5 different traditions of dance which brings together the vibrancy of the Classical Indian dance.
In Sanskrit "Namas" means, "bow, obeisance, reverential salutation." It comes from the root Nam, which carries meanings of bending, bowing, humbly submitting and becoming silent. "Te" means "to you." Thus
"namaste" means "I bow to you." the act of greeting is called "Namaskaram," "Namaskara" and "Namaskar" in the varied languages of the subcontinent.
The 5 styles of dance and dancers, Bharatanatyam - Ananda Shankar Jyaant, Mohiniattam - Dr Neena Prasad, Odissi - Ranjana Gauhar, Kuchipudi - Deepika Reddy, and Chhau -Shagun, come together on stage to create a personal interpretation of what dance means to them in their cultural space and identity providing colour and shapes to their inner worlds through words rhythm and melody - becoming thereby
the vehicle between the heard and the unheard, the seen and the unseen, inviting the viewer to an inner unheard unseen landscape |
