62nd WORLD NEWSPAPER CONGRESS

Dear Colleague,

We at the Indian Newspaper Society are very proud and pleased to have been given the opportunity to host the 2009 World Congress and we welcome you to join us at Hyderabad, India.

December is a very pleaant month to be visiting India and experiencing the country in all its myriad colours and diversity. It means warm, sunny days and evening weather well suited to outdoor cultural and social activities. It is the time to be visiting the historic cities of Delhi, Agra and Hyderabad, the lovely beaches of Goa and Kumarakom, a delightful resort in the backwaters of Kerala - the home of spice plantations. Then there are the ancient temples and game sanctuaries - in fact an endless variety of interesting places to visit in the sub continent.

Hyderabad, a historic city, represents an amalgam of the cultures of the North and South. Earlier well known for its culinary delights and monuments, it is now often referred to as Cyberabad, a cosmopolitan city at the forefront of India's many developing metros. It has become a favourite destination of leaders of business and industry from far and wide - both for its investment climate and state-of-the-art conference facilities. It is now preparing itself to welcome and receive people like you, the doyens of the media world.

I have no doubt that you will find the programmes of the Congress and Forum professionally stimulating. I also hope that the social activities, networking opportunities and tours, help you develop an abiding interest in India both from a professional angle and also as a holiday destination.
